Matt's Birthday Party

We love having family come for birthday parties.
It's always a lot of fun!

Uncle Adam made the girls this marble thing for Christmas and they absolutely love it. It was a big hit on Matt's birthday with the kids. Matt just painted it a few days before. Rylee really wanted to paint it and all we had was black spray paint, but she thinks it's "so cool!"

Let's Go Swimming!

The girls have been obsessed with swimming. Matt has taken them to Heise the past few Saturdays and they have loved it. I haven't gone with them- it's just Daddy and the girls. I don't particularly like swimming in hot springs- it stinks and it's weird to me to go swimming outside in the winter. And so when they're not swimming they think they need to pretend to be. I guess the stools are the pool- I don't know!

Rylee came out of her room the other day in this. And then she started posing. I don't know where she learned how to pose like that. This swimsuit is too small, but she always pulls that one out. She's so ready for summer!

And here's Ashlyn wearing the same one Rylee had worn earlier. It's too big for her, but she'll grow into it someday. She poses weird too- she learns it from Rylee. She can't keep her eyes open when smiling for the camera!

And we can't forget to invite Baby Sally to the party. Ashlyn took off her dress so she could "swim" too. And then she had to share her M&M's with her.

I guess Rylee is also getting ready for Valentine's Day. I was putting her to bed the other night and found this on her floor. I thought it was so cute- it really does look like a Valentine monster! She is so creative- I don't know where she gets her imagination!

Happy Birthday, Matt!

Matt is 34 today.
That is so old, but I'm not too far behind.
Happy Birthday, Matt!

We have to get balloons for every birthday now for the girls. They love them. The red polka-dot balloons are actually from Ashlyn's birthday a month ago. I can't believe they've lasted this long and are still floating! Gotta love the high float stuff at Zurchers.

Just Playing

Yesterday I blogged about not taking pictures so far in January, so that motivated me to take some pictures! They are pictures of what we've been doing lately- just playing. They are mostly of Ashlyn. I am trying to make it up to her for not taking a video on her birthday. The girls and I watched some videos of when Rylee was a baby and Matt and I (mostly Matt) took lots of videos of her doing absolutely nothing. And I don't think we've taken nearly as much of Ashlyn. I think I'm pretty even as the pictures go, but I think that's why I was taking so many of her- I feel guilty!!

Ashlyn loves to do puzzles and she's pretty good at them. She especially loves the Dora ones we have. After she finishes one, she puts up her arms and says, "Hooray! We did it!" (Not just the Dora ones!) But I think her favorite part is breaking it- you can see the big smile on her face as she starts to break it!

This is Baby Sally. Grandma gave Ashlyn this doll for Christmas and it's pretty much all she's played with since. She takes it everywhere. I asked her what her name was on Christmas and she told me Sally. I don't know where she got the name- I have a friend Sally who we see when we go to dance, but I don't really say her name a lot. So I don't know, but that's been her name since. Rylee comes up with names for her dolls, but they change every day. Ashlyn's has always been Sally. She's now become Baby Sally though. She is so sweet with her- she talks baby talk to her and tells me when she's sleeping or poopy and she even sits her on the potty. She feeds her and plays with her and puts her on her shoulders- Rylee hasn't been this into dolls yet- I guess Ashlyn takes after me. I always loved my dolls.
This is Ashlyn playing in the Cinderella tent.
Rylee was in there too, but she's too fast for the camera.

They found my old Chevy's hat- Ashlyn thought she had to have boots on when she wore the hat! The doll binky completes the look!

And here's Rylee- posing for the camera! She was dancing and showing off her Rapunzel doll and shirt. I can't wait until that comes out on DVD- I loved that movie!

So you can see that we haven't been doing anything too exciting.

(Rylee just came into the room with a diaper and wipes. Ashlyn followed her in and laid down on the floor. Rylee changed Ashlyn's diaper all by herself! What a good helper. And she did a pretty good job too!)

January

January is not my favorite month. I haven't taken a picture since my last post. We have not done anything picture worthy. And this is coming from me who takes pictures of everything. So that shows you just how boring we've been. Matt comes home tomorrow from his physical therapy thing in Boise, so maybe then we'll do more. Walgreens is even having a sale on prints and I have no pictures to print- this is not normal!

Noah, Macie, and Jacob

We miss you guys! And Adam and Lindsay too! We are so glad that you were able to come and play with us- we had so much fun with you! We will have to try to come to your house soon.

Rylee and Ashlyn talk about their cousins all the time. Ashlyn has been asking to go see Noah all week! They went to Grandma's yesterday and they weren't there, so hopefully they know that they are back home now. I kept telling them, but I don't think they believed me until they didn't see them at Grandma's. They miss them all. We had a really good time.

Ashlyn wasn't too happy about getting her picture taken,
but Rylee and Macie know how to pose!
I don't know why Ashlyn wasn't smiling-
she loved whenever Noah would carry her or play with her.
They were best buds.

My kids don't drink a lot of pop- they drink pink lemonade or blue powerade (blue juice)- but Grandma always has caffeine free Pepsi. They all had to have their own can- I'm pretty sure none of them drank the whole thing, but they sure enjoyed having their own can! Rylee calls Pepsi the "black drink."

Ashlyn and Macie loved the popcorn tin- they were cuddled up in Grandma's warm blanket watching Annie and eating popcorn. What could be better than that?

New Year's Eve

Matt came home from Boise Friday afternoon, just in time for New Year's Eve. We went to Oma's for a little while so Matt could see his family. Then we went to my parents' house for a little party. We ate dinner and snacks, made a gingerbread train, did puzzles, played games, and enjoyed each others' company. Matt and I left around 9:30. Then Matt and the kids stayed up until 10:30, then went to bed. So I sat in bed watching TV (there's nothing on TV on New Year's Eve!) until midnight- it was pretty hard to stay awake! I watched the ball drop and then at 12:01, I was asleep too. It used to be a huge deal to stay up until midnight- I guess I must be getting old! Maybe when the kids know what's going on and can stay up for New Years, it might be exciting again! We had a good time though- but actually staying up until midnight wasn't too exciting!

Here's everybody- except me.
I just realized I didn't take my own picture, but oh well!
So you get two of Ashlyn instead!

Grandma getting the gingerbread train started.

Matt and Ashlyn doing puzzles.

Lindsay did most of the work on the gingerbread-
the rest of us just watched!

Ashlyn ready to play a game- Disney Apples to Apples.

Ashlyn helped decorate- but she ate more than she decorated with!

Caught eating the candy!

Cory helped with the finishing touches.

Jacob and Ashlyn provided the musical entertainment.

Happy New Year!
