Happy 85th Birthday, Grandpa!

Grandpa's birthday was yesterday, but we celebrated today so all of his kids could be here.

All of his grandchildren gave him cards and $5, which added up to $85.
I was the only grandchild that actually could celebrate with him- we missed everybody!
But Grandpa really appreciated his cards and that each one thought of him on his birthday.

All of Grandpa's kids were able to celebrate with him.

Laura, Larry, and Myrt made the lunch.
It was DELICIOUS!
Any meal at Myrt's is a great one!

Ashlyn finally sat with Grandpa for a picture.
She was just being shy because she loves Grandpa!
Everyone had to tell her not to smile to get her to actually smile though!

 Grandpa enjoying his cards.

Grandma took the girls for a walk in the alley behind Myrt's house- they thought it was great!  So they invited me to go again with them!  It's the little things that make them happy!

This is our attempt at a group shot- not the greatest.  Matt had to jump in at the last second, but he's in it!  By this time nobody wanted their picture taken, so I'll take what I can get!

I hope you had a wonderful birthday, Grandpa!
Thanks for letting us celebrate with you!
We love you!

Rylee's Dance Recital

Rylee had her dance recital after t-ball practice last night on Grandpa Ludlow's 85th birthday!  Her class danced three dances- and of course, she did a great job!!!  Her teacher told her that she had to smile in order to get a trophy- and I think she smiled the most of anybody!  She really wanted another trophy and she deserved it! The pictures aren't that great, but you can kind of see her smiling!

She was so excited to get her trophy!

Grandma gave both girls a doll-
Ashlyn got Tinker Bell and Rylee got Ballerina Belle.
They both love them!

Good job, Rylee!
I'm so proud of you!

Ashlyn will be taking dance,
so they will both be in the recital next year.
That will be interesting!

T-Ball

I signed Rylee up for T-Ball this summer- she's so excited!  I have been practicing with her a little and when she goes to Grandpa Jensen's, he plays with her too.  She says she's the "Queen of Baseball!"  She is a very good hitter- even without the tee.  She's going to love it!  Practices are this month and then the games are in June.  She had her first practice and her dance recital on the same day!

Matt took Rylee to get a mitt, and she and Ashlyn ended up with mitts, balls, and bats!  Ashlyn had to have her own too, of course!

Ready for School

Ashlyn is always saying, "K, Mom, I'm going to school.  Bye!"  And she'll get her backpack and go to school.  So this time we actually kind of played school- she wanted me to be her teacher.  And her hair is in a Tinker Bell bun- it's the best I could do kind of quick!

Kindergarten Roundup

So Ashlyn's giving talks and Rylee's going to kindergarten next year- when did all this happen?!?

I had always hoped that Rylee would be able to go to my school- just because it's more convenient.  I could take her to or from school and she could ride the bus to or from the daycare.  The daycare is in Edgemont's boundaries.  But just to be on the safe side, I registered her at Ammon and at my school.  I told my principal and secretary that I would really like her to go to Edgemont.  But they kept telling me if there's room and that they might not know until school starts.  So I've been stressing about not knowing which school Rylee would go to.

So Monday was Kindergarten Roundup for my school.  She was very excited, but the night before she told me she was a little "worried."  I think she thought she was actually going to school.  But I told her it was just a little while to see what kindergarten was like.  She got a dog invitation, so she wanted to wear her dog shirt.  So everything she did had a dog theme and she loved it.  My mom took her while the kindergartners now came to my class.  So I had to keep 50 kids busy for an hour- pretty crazy!  She had a great time and is so excited for school.

Monday morning the secretary said that there wasn't room in the morning classes which I had requested, but there were a few spots left in the afternoon.  But she didn't leave me feeling too good that she would be going there- registration goes all through the summer and who knows how many more kids there will be.  Then after school she told me that she had talked to the principal and that he would make sure that Rylee could go there.  What a relief- just knowing for sure where she will be going.  I thought I wouldn't know until school started.  I think they should have been able to tell me that months ago though!!  Oh well, it all worked out- thank goodness!  And she will be able to go on the bus and be in the same class as one of her friends from the daycare.

She's going to be an Edgemont Eagle!

Ashlyn's First Talk

Even though it doesn't seem like she's old enough, Ashlyn gave her first talk in Primary yesterday.  She was so excited.  When I told her on Saturday that she got to give a talk the next day, she said, "I can't wait!"

She got a new dress for the occasion and she picked out her new sandals.  And she requested buns in her hair.  Oma and Grandma came to watch her.  When it was time for her talk, she didn't want me or Matt to help her.  She insisted that Grandma did.  So I just got to watch too!  She did a great job!

Tulips

Our tulips are finally blooming!
The girls have been checking every day waiting for them to bloom.
So they were very excited to see flowers!
