Powerpuff Girls

Rylee has been starting to get very interested in learning her letters and the sounds. She loves writing her letters. She knows some of them on her own, but I write some of them and then she copies them. She has very nice handwriting and is very good at copying the letters. She loves writing friends' and family's names- and the Powerpuff Girls. She will even hear some words and say, "Hey, that starts like . . ."

So here she is with her Powerpuff Girls and the names she wrote. She noticed that all of the girls start with a "B" like Bradley. I have tried to associate the letters with the beginning of names in our family. With both sides of the family, we can actually match a lot of the letters.

"I Need Money!"

We went to Arctic Circle last night so the girls could play and they like to get little toys from the machines. They were playing for a little while and then Ashlyn went over to look at the toys. She then went to Matt and said, "I need money, Dad." We thought it would be a while before we heard that! She didn't say, "Can I have a toy?" She knew what she needed- it was just so matter-of-fact.

Lipstick and the Newspaper

On Sunday Rylee was in the bathroom with me as I was getting ready. She was being so quiet and I thought she was just watching me. But I looked over and this is what I saw- she put her lipstick on all by herself! It actually scared me at first- I didn't know what it was and I just kind of glanced at it. This is her lipstick from dance- she had to have a specific kind- so I guess she thought she could put it on herself. Needless to say she did not go to church like this (her hair was actually done and she wasn't wearing lipstick)! Silly girl!

Ashlyn decided after church that she needed to read the newspaper. She was really going through it- I think she was looking at the sports section. Silly girl #2!

East Idaho Dance Showcase

As she was getting ready, we realized her Lalaloopsy doll was the same color as her costume, so she had to be in the picture too!

Hailey did her hair- THANK YOU, HAILEY!
They had to have it done a certain way and
I'm not very good at ringlets,
so I asked Hailey if she would do it for us.
She did a great job!

It was at Shelley High School.
She also has an end-of-the-year recital in May,
so this was just an extra chance to perform.

Rylee with Jeneva- a girl in her primary class.

Ashlyn really wants to dance too!
Too bad she has to wait another couple of years!

We were on the front row, but not in the right spot. And Rylee was in the back row, so it was hard to get pictures and video. We got lots of pictures of the girl in front of her though!

Rylee's dance teacher gave them all a sucker, but Rylee had a little taste and didn't like it. So she gave it to Ashlyn. And I actually ended up with it!

Rylee did a great job!

Dancing on the Bed

Ashlyn has been doing Rylee's Zip-a-dee-doo-dah dance from dance class. She knows a lot of the moves- I didn't know she was even paying attention. So she found some dance clothes and shoes and has been loving dancing around the house. The shirt she's wearing is for Rylee's recital coming up in May.

Then Rylee used the bed as her stage to do her dance.
She was practicing for her performance the next day.

This is one of the parts of the dance.

Ashlyn has started to pose like Rylee.

Then they just kind of started jumping/dancing on the bed.

My cute dancing girls.

Bath Time

Ashlyn loves bath time- she thinks she's swimming.
She loves to lay down in the water
and just have her face poking out.

Her hair is getting long- and of course, she's watching Spiderman. She is obsessed right now- that's all she wants to watch. We alternate between the first and third. But I think she likes the first better. Rylee had the same obsession- what is it with my girls and Spiderman?! I miss Annie!

Doctor's Appointment

I had an eye doctor's appointment in Salt Lake today. It was just a check-up and things are going well. I've had a few surgeries to reattach my retina- it's a long story, but now my vision is probably as good as it's going to get. In July the vision in my left eye was 20/200 and now it's 20/70, so it has really improved since then but it's still not very good! But the worst my vision has been is 20/600 in that eye (I couldn't even see the big E!). So I am actually grateful for what it is now. And I've been worried about it spreading to my other eye, but the doctor said today that it probably won't happen. I've never had any problems with that one, but he's always checked it and made sure it was ok. So I'm actually very happy with the progress.

Anyway- since I was driving all the way to Salt Lake and back in one day, I thought we should take advantage of the food and shopping. So my mom came with me and we took the girls. We stopped in Centerville at In-n-Out for lunch, which was a little weird because usually I only go there on the way to Disneyland or something. And unfortunately we weren't going there. And it was also weird to see snow on the mountains instead of palm trees, but it was still the best cheeseburger! We also did a little shopping before and after my appointment in Centerville. We all had a great time- it was fun to get away for a little while- even though it was to see a doctor!

Enjoying In-N-Out

Rylee loves ketchup- she even eats it out of the cup.
(Actually this was the first time I'd ever seen that!)

Reading a magazine in the waiting room.

Ashlyn was also reading a magazine like Rylee,
but stopped before we could get a picture
so this was our re-creation!

You're probably wondering why two BYU Alumni (my mom and I) would ever get a picture in front of the University of Utah sign, but do you notice the date? February 28- what a coincidence. We actually drove up a different way than usual and I just happened to notice the date. So of course, we had to get a picture!
